while it's true that the 3.5 eco boost F150 would out down a much higher dyno hp number then a 2016-2018 STI.the actual average measured performance results prove that although the 3.5 eco boost is as strong as a V8 in that truck it is still clobbered by an STI in acceleration. Anyway I digress.lolĪnd someone really did literally make a comment in the comment section at the end of that car and driver test that they could beat an STI with their eco boost F150.lols. I MEAN REALLY! why do people convince themselves that a pickup truck with a modern twin turbo v6 is outperforming a Subaru with a 14 year old running drivtrain and 305 horsepower when the actual real world averages show the STI clobber it. The 106-108 MPH top speed of the eco boost f150, vs the 160-164 top speed of the 2015-2017 STI's. The 2016-2017 STI is on average almost 2 seconds faster from 0-60, than a 3.5 eco boost f150.and more.importantly 1-1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile than the 360 horse eco boost f150, and a whopping 8-10 mph faster in 1/4 mile trap speed over the F150.I mean really the STI is a lot faster lol. So I do get a chuckle a test where measured performance wasnt what it should be, and then write a comment that their pickup truck with a 3.5 6 cylinder can beat it, when the fact is that simply isn't the case.Ĭlick to expand. And someone really did literally make a comment in the comment section at the end of that car and driver test that they could beat an STI with their eco boost F150.lols. I've seen tests where corvettes couldn't get under 5 second 0-60, when tested new. I'm convinced the spread in performance numbers in measured tests with STI's or any brand performance cars in one test vs another is profoundly caused by the weather conditions and location conditions where the various tests are done and the gas being used. The 2015-2018 STI's got back to the straight line acceleration of the 06-07 GD's, but with consistently higher trap speeds thanks to improved ecu tune and aerodynamics The GR's were all over the place.at first when they came out 13.5-14.00 in the 1/4 and 0-60 in 4.7-5.3, but the results do prove that there can be anomolies, and it's probably because of fuel quality at the different locations where tests are done and weather conditions that would account for them and such, and I think with the GR's testers weren't always using the settings properly since it was a new set up.once the cars had been out for awhile they were averaging 4.8 0-60 and mid 13's in the 1/4 in later measured tests and as the number of tests had grown to represent a larger cross section. The 06 and 07 STI's still seem to consistently have been the fastest accelerating in a straight line as most were getting 0-60 in 4.5-4.8 and the 1/4 mile in 12.9-13.1. Click to expand.I usually wait for multiple tests of a new model year to be done, like dozens, and then take the aggregate of the measured performance results to weed out the anomalies and get the averages.
